Abstract
This trilingual book is the first result of the three-year research project ‘Classical Music in Music Education’ (ClaMusE), conducted in the Free University of Bolzano-Bozen from 2019 to 2023 with a research group with scholars from different institutions and three countries (Italy, Germany, Norway).
The project aimed at stimulating a reflection on the presence and role of classical music in music education, to assess its educative potential, and finally to carry out activities in the schools that could be the basis for future concrete proposals. This volume reflects these characteristics by means of its organization ideally into two integrated parts: the first mainly theoretical and the second more directly oriented to the school system.
In the difficult time of the COVID-19 pandemic, the implementation of this project was possible thanks to the efforts and to the extraordinary flexibility and adaptability of the many people and institutions who generously contributed it. Words are not enough to thank the colleagues in musicology and music education of the research group, the administrative staff of the Free University of Bolzano-Bozen, the school managers, staff members, teachers and, above all, the children of the schools that opened their doors to us. This book is ideally dedicated to teachers and children.
