Abstract
This chapter discusses in section 2 the division of competences between the national and subnational levels in the sectors of environmental protection, transport, energy and water, and spatial planning, both pursuant to the Constitutions of Italy and Austria and with reference to the orientation of the Constitutional Courts of the two countries. Section 3 outlines the main strategies and legislation in the same sectors, with a view to understanding to what extent these integrate climate change in the abovementioned fields of activity.
