Abstract
Climate change poses a significant challenge to the European energy sector, which must adapt and enhance its resilience. Key EU policies like the European Green Deal highlight the necessity to integrate climate change adaptation into energy planning (EC, 2023m). As Europe transitions to a low-carbon energy system, understanding climate impacts becomes crucial. This chapter focuses on how climate change affects four key energy subsystems: • energy demand, encompassing electricity, heating, cooling and transport demand; • energy transportation and storage, involving transmission and distribution grids, electricity networks, district heating systems, gas networks, etc.; Key messages
