Abstract
Since the beginning of 2023, a semi-official phase of discussion around the prospects of Corsica's autonomy has been initiated. After the social unrest aroud that followed the assasination of Yvan Colonna, the French state posture towards Corsican nationalists' demands has become more accomodating. In July 2023, Corsican nationalists forces represented in the Corsican Assembly have agreed on a draft that contains the pillars of a potential Corsican autonomy statute. This should represent the base for the constitutionalization of Corsican autonomy. Still, Corsican nationalism is split in two main factions: legalist nationalists (wide majority) and armed nationalists (tiny minority). The blog piece analyses the most recent developments of Corsican nationalism, and the recent debate around the acknowledgment of a "special" place for Corsica within France.
