Abstract
In 2025, the Trump administration issued an order aimed at restricting Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) policies, as well as limiting the use of related terms in official language. Since many of these concepts are central to the work of the Institute for Minority Rights, we decided to create a series of short texts to explain why these concepts matter—why it's important to protect the rights and claims they represent, why research on them is essential, and how their recognition (or lack thereof) affects individuals, communities, and society as a whole.
