Abstract
We live in turbulent times. Over the past decade, Europe has faced what many call a “migration crisis,” endured a global pandemic, and witnessed the return of war to the continent. Each of these events has sharpened public fears and made “security” one of the most powerful words in political life. Security has become a guiding idea that influences how societies respond to change. This is particularly relevant when it comes to migration.
