Abstract
In-house Training
The integration of the ‘gender dimension’ in research (going beyond ‘gender equality’ in the composition of research teams) is becoming increasingly important. Funding authorities also require the inclusion of this aspect in project proposals. The course will provide you with the necessary background to understand such new requirements and proposes tools on how to include the ‘gender dimension’ in the methodology of your research project.
Contents
• Introduction to gender and diversity studies
• Discussion of the applicability of gender and diversity-related questions to participants’ own research
• In-depth discussion of participants’ research proposals regarding gender and diversity issues
Participants will get an overview of the main topics that gender and diversity studies deal with, along with an introduction to core concepts and definitions. They will discuss the applicability of gender and diversity issues to their own areas of expertise, as these are cross-cutting topics that are of relevance across different research fields. After establishing a common theoretical basis in the morning, participants will have the opportunity to discuss their research proposals and how gender aspects can be included in individual meetings with the instructor in the afternoon.
