Abstract
New technologies, particularly mobile phones and computer-based communication, have actually changed the ways used for staying in contact. This involves a lot of difficulties for elderly persons, but can also stimulate them to find new ways to be nearer to the young generations. This study, based on a questionnaire created by P.K. Smith, asks 97 grandparents and 200 grandchildren (range 10-14) about their way to communicate. Results demonstrate that the most part of grandparents use mobile phones to communicate with their grandchildren but don’t use neither sms and computer. Grandmothers are more involved than grandfathers in intense relationships with grandchildren.
